Alyson “Whit” Medina

Alyson “Whit” Medina

As the only native Houstonian her family, Whit is especially devoted to the Greater Houston community. Prior to attending law school, Whit served in the Army Corps of Engineers branch of the Texas Army National Guard where she completed local disaster rescue operations and assisted in training active-duty soldiers stationed in Texas, earning the prestigious Texas Medal of Merit. Whit likewise continued serving her community prior to her legal career as a teacher in both Houston and Dickinson Independent School Districts and has worked with the Houston Marathon Committee since January 2017.
Alyson “Whit” Medina earned her undergraduate degree, with University Honors, from the University of Houston, and her law degree cum laude from South Texas College of Law Houston. At South Texas, Whit competed in the U.S. Army’s Brigadier General Wayne E. Alley Military Moot Court Competitions, served as Vice President of the Veteran Law Students Association, earned the top grade in three courses—including legal writing and international criminal law—and obtained the honor of earning her criminal advocacy honors certificate. During her time at South Texas, Whit gained experience clerking for a Harris County District Court, the United States Attorneys’ Office, and the U.S. Army JAG Corps in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Each of these has given her diverse experience in solving client issues from every perspective in the legal system. After working for The Akers Firm for six months as a law clerk, Whit was hired as an associate attorney.
When Whit is away from the office, you can find her working out, fixing up her house in League City, or spending time with her wife, Melinda, and their dogs, Buddy and Bella.
